Ledyard Public Schools
Superintendent Search

At its meeting on August 9, 2016, the Ledyard Board of Education unanimously voted to appoint Mr. Jason (Jay) S. Hartling as the new superintendent of schools, contingent on the successful completion of his background investigation, verification of his certification, and negotiation of his contract. He will be replacing former Superintendent Cathy Patterson who has been the Interim Superintendent since her retirement in June following school district service for the past 28 years.  Hartling, who is originally from Western Massachusetts, comes to Ledyard having served for the past five years as Principal and Chief Administrator of East Catholic High School in Manchester.  It is anticipated that he will begin his duties in early September. His tenure at East Catholic has been marked by helping to restore the school’s financial health, while expanding and continuing innovations in its academic program. In the past year, he has led a multi-million dollar renovation and expansion of the school’s facility.  His varied career has included service in the U.S. Army National Guard, making an already strong match for our community even stronger.

The Ledyard Board of Education and CABE Search Consultant Mary Broderick would like to thank all those who took time to participate in the focus groups and fill out surveys. Your input will help us ensure we find the best match for our next superintendent of schools.  Mary is preparing a “leadership profile,” drawn from the themes she’s finding. She will present it to the Board of Education at our meeting on June 1st.

In the meantime, though the deadline is not until June 10, we have already received a handful of applications. We hope to conduct initial interviews in early July.
