A Message From the superintendent

A simple equation:  This Form + Your Signature = Federal $ for LPS students!

Deep State budget cuts are looming and Ledyard, like most Connecticut municipalities, will be affected. Federal Programs, such as Impact Aid, are extremely valuable resources for ensuring quality education in our schools.

Never before has this funding been more important to Ledyard than it is this year!

Over the past several years, an average of $583,000 annually has been awarded to the Town to help subsidize for lost revenue from tax-exempt Federal properties and Federal employers. These properties and employers include the US Navy, US Coast Guard Academy, General Dynamics/Electric Boat, Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation, Mohegan Tribe, and the associated casinos. Nearly one-third, approximately 700 LPS students, are in these special categories with parents who work or live on such properties.

You can help us secure this federal grant by completing the simple, one-page survey and returning it to your child’s teacher.  The Department of Education
requires we have a signed form on file for each student in the district.

If you have any questions about Impact Aid funding for our schools, please feel free to call  my office at 860-464-9255 x1000.

Thank you for your anticipated cooperation.

Jason S. Hartling
